Amanfoso, Kwatire & Adantia communities to get water – Chiefs thank Akufo Addo, Hawa Koomson

The Amanfoso, Kwatire and Adantia communities in the Sunyani West District of the Brong Ahafo Region have expressed their profound gratitude to the President, H. E. Nana Akufo Addo and the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, for the first time in their lives, a government is providing them with a potable drinking water.

This gratitude was expressed by the communities to the President through the Minister when she visited these communities to inspect the progress of work on the construction of mechanised water systems in these communities as part of her working visit to the Middle Belt Development Zone.
The consultant, Mr. Edwin Dodoo, working on the projects opined that, the water system isn’t the ordinary borehole system but rather a sophisticated mechanised community-based water system equipped with a 10,000 litres reservoir tank powered by a solar panel with a number of distribution points.

He added that, the system would be capable of serving about 2,400 people in a community per day.

The Assemblywoman for Anyinase electoral area, Hon. Atta Adwoa, stated that, as a community, access to water has been their main priority and therefore, appealed to the Minister to help extend a similar water systems to the adjoining communities of Paaweiso and Gyansatum, where local people journey several miles just to fetch water.

Nana Kofi Boadan, the chief of Amanfoso, on his part also appealed for a JHS block and a CHPS compound.
Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, urged the communities to own these projects as they were the product of their needs, when the needs assessment were carried out last year throughout the country. She also promised the chiefs that, now that the Development Authorities have been put in place, more of such projects will be provided to meet the needs of the rural and deprived communities.

” these projects are your own, the government is working hard to provide you with basic but yet important infrastructure aimed at bettering the lives and improving the standard of living of the people. More of such projects will come in due time, now that the Development Authorities have been put in place” she said.

The Sunyani West Constituency is also benefiting from three (3) 10-seater community institutional water closet bio-digester toilets with a mechanised solar panel boreholes located at Nsuatre Model Sch, Chira Bongo and Fiapre all in the Sunyani West Constituency to serve their respective communities.

These projects fall within the $1 million dollar per constituency allocations based on needs assessment carried out in all the 275 constituencies last year.

The Minister is on a 10-day working visit to the Middle Belt Development Zone comprising the Brong Ahafo, Ashanti and Eastern Regions to inspect the progress of works initiated by her Ministry this year.

She is accompanied by Engr. Kweku Mensah Solomon, a representative of Ghana Institute of Engineering.
